Nature Crafted Into Art.
The story of SHELLORA begins with a simple truth: in Sri Lanka, nature provides abundance, and with patience and handcrafting skill, everyday coconut shells can become timeless treasures.

Every Shell Tells a Natural Story
In Sri Lankan culinary and agricultural traditions, the coconut palm is celebrated as the "Tree of Life" (Kapruka). Yet once the fruit and water are enjoyed, the hard inner shell is frequently burnt or discarded.
We see the hard coconut shell as a dense, resilient, organic hardwood alternative with unique fibrous grain patterns that cannot be replicated by synthetic materials or mass machine manufacturing.

Crafted Slowly, by Hand
Transforming a fibrous outer shell into a silky-smooth pendant or polished bowl requires hours of meticulous manual labor. First, each shell is inspected for thickness and maturity.
It is carefully shaped, hollowed, and sanded across multiple progressive grits (from coarse 80-grit to ultra-fine 1000-grit). Finally, rather than using synthetic chemical lacquers, we buff our creations with cold-pressed virgin coconut oil and organic bees-wax to bring out their deep, lustrous amber sheen.
Our Guiding Principles
Honest artisan standards without exaggerated claims.
Genuine Upcycling
We work directly with local communities to collect coconut shells that would otherwise contribute to waste, turning them into cherished lasting items.
